10 January 2012

I am pleased to announce that the new album “"Tempus Fugit"” (or "“Time Flies”") will officially be released on 17 January 2012.

What is the album about?

When I was a child, I was fascinated by these old black and white pictures that my grandmother had in her house. She always referred to them as “the "Old people"”; people that were very strict and “took no nonsense”. I remember one of them was my great grandmother (or maybe great-great grandmother…), but no one really knew or remembered who the others were.

Every time I looked at these pictures it moved me greatly; people whose eyes saw a different time, a different world. Are they and everything they experienced and lived for really gone forever? Sometimes when I see pictures of myself I find myself wondering who one day will be staring at that picture. Who will be staring back at me from a different age and time, curious about what my life and my world was like?

The passage of time and the fading memories of people’'s lives fills me with great nostalgia. That is what this record is all about. But it is NOT about sadness. May the music leave you revitalised and energised through the recollection of sweet and pleasurable moments in your life. May it also bring a renewed focus on what is important in your life.

Best regards

The first single from the new album entitled "Moment In Time" is now available on iTunes, and will soon be available on Amazon, e-music, Rhapsody etc.

The song is about that one moment that I believe comes in everyone's lifetime where one's purpose in life and context in the universe becomes crystal clear and, at least for a moment, one is left with pure contentment and inner peace.

I truly hope you enjoy the music.

New track "Lament" has been uploaded in full and is streaming on the Home page. Please let me know what you think!

The song is about the reality and inevitability of the passage of time and the sadness we feel when people and things dear to us move into the chapters of the past. However, the reality of the passage of time is cause for fully embracing the present and relishing every experience of the beauty around us.

Time for a quick update!

Just to say the new projected release date for the forthcoming full length album is hopefully December 2011, or January 2012.

The new album will be entitled "Tempus Fugit" ("Time Flies") and the music has largely been inspired by the romantacism and splendour of the seemingly immortal inhabitants of the Victorian Age.

The reason for the delay in release is that me and the team are currently in negotiations with a few independent record labels to see if we can make a deal on the new record. Also, the potential is being explored to include one or two vocal tracks on the album (but at this stage the intention is still to release a 100% instrumental album.)

In the interim, please visit the Home page for an extract of an un-mastered version of the track "“Lament" from the new album”.

Please visit here regularly for further updates and samples of new music!

Best regards

Welcome to the brand new Pieter Burger web - and fansite!

It’'s still a bit of a work in progress but I hope everything works as it should for now. Please do not hesitate to mail me at pburger@hotmail.co.uk should you have any suggestions on how to make it better!

As you are no doubt aware, the recording of the new release is in progress and is going quite well. I wouldn'’t want to say too much at this stage, except that the theme and inspiration behind the new record is the Victorian age and all the melancholy and splendour that goes with it. The new album should be available by August / September 2011.

Best regards and thanks for all the support!
